Ibrahim al-Koni
Ibrahim al-Koni (* 1948 near Ghadames in Libya ) is a Libyan writer.
Life
Al-Koni grew up with the Tuareg in the desert. His mother tongue is Tamascheq . He learned to read and write Arabic at the age of twelve. In 1970 al-Koni went to Moscow and studied comparative literature at the Maxim Gorky Institute of Literature . He then worked as a journalist in Warsaw and Moscow. In 1993 he moved to Switzerland, where he became acquainted with the Arabist Hartmut Fähndrich , who translated many of his works into German. Al-Koni currently lives in Spain.

Al-Koni's works mainly revolve around the term “ home ” and combine old narrative forms with the modern novel. In the magicians. The epic of the Tuareg describes the problems between nomads and settled people.
