from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ichijō Sanetsune ( Japanese 一條 実 経 , unreformed : 一條 実 經 ; * 1223 ; † 30 August 1284 ( Japanese calendar : Kōan 7/7/18)), was descended from Kujō Michiie , a member of the families who rulers were considered worthy enough for Japanese rulers. He was Kampaku for Go-Saga and Kameyama , also Sesshō for Go-Fukakusa until 1247.

Life path

His father Kujō Michiie (1193-1252) had four sons with his mother, who came from the Saionji branch of the Fujiwara . His brothers were Kujō Norizane ( 九 倏 教 実 ) and Nijō Yoshizane , later the progenitor of the Nijō family. Sanetsune himself became the founder of the Ichijō line. His other brother was the fourth Kamakura shogun Kujō Yoritsune (ruled February 25, 1226 to June 5, 1244). He was also known under the name Enmeiji- Kampaku ( 圓明 寺 関 白 ), later also as Ichijō Irimichi Kampaku. His sons were called Ietsune ( 一條 家 經 ; † 1293) and Saneie.

When he was declared of legal age in 1229 (6 years old) he was given the lower real fifth court rank . Ranks and (nominal) guard command posts followed regularly in childhood. In 1233 he was in the following third rank. On November 13, 1235 (Katei 1/10/2) he was appointed Gon-Chūnagon . Further up the career ladder it went in 1236 with the appointment to the Gon-Dainagon and later in the same year with the elevation to the real second court rank. In the second month of 1238 he became the commandant of both the life guards on the left and the left stables.

He occupied the position of "Chancellor to the Right" ( Udaijin ) from November 5, 1240 (Ninji 1/10/20). In 1242 he was given the Ichijō residence in the Muromachi district. In the following year, the appointment as tutor of Crown Prince Hisahito followed the later Go-Fukakusa , shortly after his birth. He continued to exercise this position when he became “Chancellor on the Left” ( Sadaijin ) on July 19, 1244 (Kangen 2/6/13) .

Four years later (February 15, 1246, Kangen 4/1/28) Heavenly Majesty deigned to appoint him in a private audience as Kampaku and head of the Fujiwara family. The next day, the Go-Saga -Tennō resigned and Sanetsune became regent ( sesshō ) for the 3-year-old Go-Fukakusa. He resigned from these offices on February 25, 1247 (Kangen 5/1/19).

Following a request from his father, he took this off some duties in the administration of the Kantō . In the following years he was partly to blame for the disputes in Kamakura , which broke out over the establishment of Munetaka-shinnō ( 宗 尊 親王 ; 1242-74, ruled 1252-66) as the - powerless - sixth Shogun of Kamakura-Bakufu .

Eighteen years after his first term in office he was again Kampaku (1265 / i4 / 18 - 1267/12/9), now for Kameyama .

Two months before his death in 1284, he entered the Enmei-ji ( 圓明 寺 ; Yamashiro Province ). His grave is in the capital's Tofuku-ji .
