Ida Frohnmeyer
Ida Frohnmeyer (born December 31, 1882 in Calicut / India ; † August 29, 1968 in Basel ) was a German - Swiss writer .
Life
Ida Frohnmeyer was the daughter of a German-Swiss couple, namely Leonhard Johannes Frohnmeyer and Marie Wilhelmine (née Bührer), who worked in India in the service of the Basel Mission . She came to Switzerland in 1886 , where she grew up with relatives in Basel . From 1893 she lived in Calw with Hermann Hesse's parents , with whom she was close friends. From 1895 to 1897 she attended a secondary school for girls in Cannstatt , and then she trained as a kindergarten teacher in Stuttgart . Until 1902 she practiced this profession in Calw; after that she was a teacher in Scotland for three years . After her return she lived in Basel, where she worked as a teacher from 1915 to 1918. From 1918 to 1957 she edited the family magazine Die Garbe . As an employee of the Friedrich Reinhardt Verlag , she was good friends with Tina Truog-Saluz .
Ida Frohnmeyer was the author of a literary work that includes novels and stories for children and adults, poems , plays and radio plays and is strongly influenced by her Christian convictions.
Frohnmeyer remained single. Born a German, she was naturalized in Basel in 1933.
