Daly basin

The Daly Basin (ger .: Daly Basin ) is a 20,900 km² sedimentary basins in the Northern Territory in Australia . The area is named after the Daly River .

The approximately 1 km thick rock layers formed from the Cambrian to the Ordovician 470 to 520 million years ago. The sedimentary basin partially overlays the Pine Creek Orogon and Birrindudu Basins in the north and the Victoria Basin in the west. Limestone , sandstone , dolomite and siltstone are found in the Daly Basin .

Metals and barite are in the southwest and limestone in the southeast of the sedimentary basin. The area has been examined for gold , phosphate , coal , diamonds , manganese , copper , lead , zinc , tin , nickel and uranium and other metals. A deposit exploration for diamonds, nickel and other metals is currently taking place.
