Location of the Idarwald barracks in Rhineland-Palatinate

The Idarwald barracks was a barracks of the reserve hospital organization of the Bundeswehr in Rhaunen .

history

The Idarwald barracks was built from 1963 to 1967 west of the town on Königstein and in December 1967 the Reserve Hospital Group (ResLazGrp) 977, later renamed ResLazGrp 7416, moved into it. In April 1969 the medical training company 6/905 moved from Esslingen am Neckar to the barracks, which was renamed in 1981 with Army Structure 4 in medical training center (SanAusbZentrum) 851.

In the medical training center around 2500 reservists were trained in medical courses every year. In addition to the medical courses I (first aid), II (nursing) and III (non-commissioned officer course), mobilization and framework exercises were carried out. Regular courses were also held for members of civil aid organizations such as the German Red Cross , the Malteser Relief Service or the Johanniter Unfallhilfe .

The affiliated ResLazGrp 7416, as a device unit, had to store, maintain and manage the necessary medical supplies in order to set up a hospital with 1000 beds in Rhaunen in the event of tension or war . The inactive device units Physician Group Neurology and Psychiatry 1223 and the Physician Group Laboratory Medicine 2012 were added to this.

The permanent staff of the Idarwald barracks consisted of around 30 soldiers and civilian employees.

Civil use

The Idarwald barracks were included in the conversion program of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and supported with state funds of 848 745 euros. In addition to commercial operations, buildings were converted into condominiums and the Idarwald senior citizens' residence opened on April 1, 2002.
