Idas (dactyls)
Idas ( ancient Greek Ἴδας ) is one of the Idaean dactyls in Greek mythology .
According to Pausanias , Rhea entrusts the newborn Zeus with the dactyls from the Cretan Ida Mountains so that they can protect him from his father Kronos . He identified the dactyls with the curetes . The Idaean dactyls had altars in Olympia , whereby the altar of Idas was also called the altar of Akesidas .
