Ricardo Guízar Díaz

Ricardo Guízar Díaz (born February 26, 1933 in Colonia del Valle ; † December 4, 2015 ) was a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Tlalnepantla .

Life

Ricardo Guízar Díaz entered the seminary of Puebla de los Ángeles in 1946 , studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University from 1950 and was ordained a priest on October 26, 1958 . In September 1960 he became a spiritual director in the seminary of Puebla de los Ángeles.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 30, 1970 auxiliary bishop in Puebla de los Ángeles and titular bishop of Nona . The Archbishop of Puebla de los Ángeles, Octaviano Marquez y Tóriz , gave him episcopal ordination on August 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Emilio Abascal y Salmerón , Archbishop of Jalapa , and Luis Guízar y Barragán , Bishop of Saltillo .

On December 9, 1977 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Aguascalientes . From 1980 to 1982 Guízar was a member of the Commission for Liturgy, Music and Sacred Art in the Mexican Bishops' Conference. Pope John Paul II appointed him on November 3, 1984 as the first bishop of the diocese of Atlacomulco, established on the same date . He was inducted into office on December 27 of the same year.

On August 14, 1996, he was appointed Archbishop of Tlalnepantla by John Paul II and was introduced to the office on September 12 of the same year. In the 1990s and 2000s he was a member of various commissions within the Mexican Bishops' Conference. From 1997 to 2000 Guízar was chairman of the commission for the mission.

On February 5, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
