Idool was a casting show in Belgium ( Flanders ), the aim of which was to find the best singer. The show was based on the British hit show Pop Idol , better known in Germany as Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS). The program was broadcast by the TV station VTM .

The winners of a total of 4 seasons were Peter Evrard (2003), Joeri Fransen (2004), Dean Delannoit (2007) and Kevin Kayirangwa (2011). But other artists also became known through this show, such as Danzel and Hadise .

All seasons were moderated by the brothers Koen and Kris Wouters , who are also known as members of the Clouseau group .

In French-speaking Belgium there has not yet been a separate “Pop Idol” adaptation; in recent years the TV broadcaster Plug RTL has participated in the French branch Nouvelle Star .
