Ignacio Rodríguez (born August 13, 1959 in Zacatepec , Morelos ) is a former Mexican soccer goalkeeper and current soccer coach .

biography

Nacho Rodríguez began his professional career at his home club CD Zacatepec , for which he was under contract until his move to Morelia (1981/82 season). From there he moved to CF Atlante , who at the time was still based in the capital , where he worked for seven years until 1989. The sources do not reveal whether and, if so, with whom Rodríguez was under contract between 1989 and 1992. It is only known that he spent the last two seasons of his professional career (1992 to 1994) with the Tigres de la UANL .

In 1980 he made eleven international appearances for the Mexican national soccer team , ten of them over the full distance. After 1980 he did not play any more, but he was also one of the best goalkeepers in the country and was appointed to the Mexican World Cup squad in 1986 .

After the end of his active career, Rodríguez worked at various clubs (including Necaxa , Jaguares de Chiapas , UAT Correcaminos and Petroleros de Salamanca ) in the coaching staff and received a contract as head coach at the second division CD Irapuato in October 2010 .

Notes and individual references

  1. His date of birth is contradictory and was taken from the data of the Mexican World Cup squad from 1986, which is stored elsewhere; on the other hand, "National Football Teams" put his date of birth as June 12, 1956. His second family name is also controversial. This is given by the Mexican Football Association as "Panamá" (and otherwise only adopted by "transfermarkt.at/de"), while Mexican Internet articles about his change as head coach to the Freseros de Irapuato give his second name as "Bahena".
