Ignacy Józef Łobos (born August 16, 1827 in Drohobytsch , Galicia , † April 15, 1909 in Tarnów ) was the Apostolic Administrator or Bishop of Tarnów .

Life

Born in the Crown Land Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria , the son of an artisan family attended the Basilian Drohobych Gymnasium in Sambor and then studied philosophy and theology in Przemyśl . On July 7, 1851, he was ordained a priest by Bishop Franciszek Wierzchlejski . In 1855 he was prefect at the seminary in Przemyśl, in 1859 spiritual director and in 1864 assessor at the local episcopal court. In 1874 he was appointed papal chamberlain and president and notary of the episcopal court.

On March 27, 1882 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Przemyśl and at the same time titular bishop of Leuce . On December 1, 1885, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Tarnów, since Bishop Józef Alojzy Pukalski had died on January 6, 1885. On December 15, 1885, Emperor Franz Joseph I appointed him Bishop of Tarnów .

His special concern was the training of priests in his diocese, he sent particularly talented seminarians for further training abroad or to Rome. He also promoted religious life and new religious settlements in the diocese.

He died in his cathedral during the Easter celebrations and was buried in the old cemetery in Tarnów.
