Ignaz Karl Figuly from Szep

Ignaz Karl Figuly von Szep (born September 2, 1807 in Vienna ; † July 15, 1875 in Linz ) was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag and Reichsrat .

Life

The son of a regimental saddler studied law at the University of Vienna from 1826 to 1829 . He then began his professional career at the Linz regional court. In 1839 he joined Karl Wiser's office , who later became mayor of Linz.

Figuly was accepted into the Industry and Commerce Association for Inner Austria in 1843 and first secretary of the Upper Austria founded in that year in 1851. Chamber of Commerce. The lawyer campaigned for an improvement of the Upper Austrian transport system and for the construction of the Linz customs building, as well as for the construction of the general hospital , the state museum and the secondary school. From 1861 to 1873 he was a delegate of the chamber in the Upper Austrian state parliament . He was also culturally active - so he founded the Linz men's choir .

He was born at the Linz / St. Martin laid to rest.

Linzer Figulystraße , named after him, runs from Gärtnerstraße in a south-westerly direction to Waldeggstraße .
