Karl Wiser , also Carl Wiser (born March 6, 1800 in Vienna , † June 18, 1889 in Linz ) was an Austrian lawyer , member of the Reichrat and Landtag and mayor of Linz.

education and profession

The son of the Viennese court jeweler Anton Wiser and his wife Helee , nee Reisch , a bourgeois daughter , attended grammar school in Vienna and studied philosophy and law at the University of Vienna . After completing his doctorate, he became a lawyer and his first marriage was Therese Schultz, who was the mother of two children, but died in 1830. In 1824 he was appointed to the court chamber procurator. In 1833 he married Maria Hackl and in 1835 moved with his wife to Linz . Here he opens a law firm as court and court counsel.

Political activity

From 1848 he was politically active and from 1848 to 1851 and 1861 to 1885 a member of the Linz City Council and for twelve years, from 1873 to 1885, Mayor of Linz . In the years 1848 to 1849 and 1861 to 1863 he was a member of the city of Linz in the Reichsrat , from 1861 to 1880 in the state parliament of the Crown Land of Austria ob der Enns , and deputy governor from 1861 to 1867, from May 15, 1868 to June 24, 1868 also exercising Governor .

When he was elected on April 6, 1873 Linz Mayor, the city of Linz took drawn up by him since 1867 Municipal Statute .
