Leonard Achleuthner

Leonhard II. Achleuthner (born January 10, 1826 in Helmberg near Kremsmünster, † February 15, 1905 in Kremsmünster ) was an Austrian clergyman and politician.

Life

After studying in Kremsmünster, he joined this monastery . In 1850 he was ordained a priest. He studied philology at the University of Vienna from 1850 to 1853, then taught at the Stiftsgymnasium and became its director and later also a monastery archivist. After Abbot Cölestin Josef Ganglbauer was appointed Archbishop of Vienna , he was Abbot of Kremsmünster until his death in 1905 . Achleuthner came to the o.ö. in 1882 as a representative of the large estate. Parliament. From September 14, 1884 to January 26, 1897 he was Governor of Upper Austria. Since 1887 he was also a member of the Herrenhaus (middle party).

He was the bearer of the Commander's Cross of the Franz Joseph Order with a star and an honorary citizen of several Upper Austrian communities.
