Ignazio Albertini (* 1644 probably in Milan , † September 22, 1685 in Vienna ) was an Italian violinist and composer .

Life

Nothing is known about his early years in Italy. The first information about him can be found in a letter of recommendation from the violinist Johann Heinrich Schmelzer from 1671 to the Prince-Bishop Karl Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn von Olomouc . Albertini worked in Vienna from 1671, in an environment in which musicians such as Nicolaus Adam Strungk , Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber and Johann Theile were active. Shortly before his murder, Albertini got a job as a musician at the court of the Emperor's widow Ferdinand III, who maintained an ensemble of twenty-four musicians.
