Ignazio Auconi

Ignazio Auconi (born September 24, 1816 in Lavinia near Velletri , † February 3, 1877 in Rome ) was an Italian priest and between 1862 and 1869 General Rector of the Pallottines .

In Rome he met Vincenzo Pallotti . He was ordained a priest in 1841 and joined the Pallottines the following year.

Father Auconi was one of the closest collaborators of Vincenzo Pallotti and helped to create the rules of the order. He preached, proselytized and conducted retreats with Pallotti. He was also present at his death and became a member of the first General Council in 1848.

Father Ignacy Auconi was made rector general of the Pallotinians in 1862. During his tenure, he was unable to resolve internal difficulties. At the end of his term of office the community consisted only of twelve fathers and three friars .

He died at the age of 61 and was buried in the Campo Verano Roman cemetery .
