Ignazio Ghiurekian

Ignazio Ghiurekian CMV (born February 14, 1833 in Trabzon , Ottoman Empire , † December 3, 1921 ) was an Armenian Catholic religious and Abbot General of the Mechitarists of Venice .

Life

Ignazio Ghiurekian joined the Congregation of Mechitarists of Venice in 1854, and received the sacrament of Holy Orders .

In 1876 Ghiurekian became Abbot General of the Mechitarists of Venice. Pope Pius IX appointed him on May 8, 1877 titular Archbishop of Traianopolis in Rhodope . The Prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Cardinal Alessandro Franchi , ordained him episcopal on May 20th of the same year .
