Igor "Harry" Michailowitsch Bondarenko ( Russian Игорь Михайлович Бондаренко ; born October 22, 1927 in Taganrog , southern Russia ; †  January 30, 2014 ibid) was a Soviet or Russian writer.

Bondarenko took part in the German-Soviet War , as well as in the anti-fascist resistance in Germany (1943–1944). He was head of the Rostov-on-Don Regional Writers ' Union (1991-1997), one of the founders of the Russian Writers ' Union (delegate to the founding congress in 1991), member of the Writers' Union of the USSR and, since 1970, honorary chairman of the Taganrog Chekhov Cultural Foundation .

Bondarenko was awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War of the Second Degree and many medals.

He lived and worked in Taganrog.

Igor Bondarenko was born on October 22, 1927 in Taganrog and spent his childhood here.

His father Mikhail Markowitsch Bondarenko was the second secretary of the city party committee. He died before World War II . His mother, Xenia Tikhonovna Bondarenko, was a housewife.

In 1942 Igor Bondarenko was abducted from Taganrog to Germany by the National Socialists and imprisoned as a minor forced laborer in the Rostock camp (camp number 47704). He took part in the anti-fascist (French) resistance 1943-44. In 1945 he fled the camp. At the age of 17 he volunteered for service in the Red Army and was assigned to the troops of the 2nd Belarusian Front .

After May 9, the unit participated in the liquidation of members of the werewolf in Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania .

Released from service in 1951, Bondarenko returned to Taganrog. After graduating from high school, he attended the Philological Faculty of Rostov University . In 1956 he finished his studies with distinction.

After graduating from university, he worked as a teacher in the Balyktschi settlement in Kyrgyzstan from 1956 to 1958. 1958 was accepted as a literary employee in the editorial office of the magazine "Don". In 1962 he was appointed secretary in charge of this magazine. In this post remained until 1991. He was also a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR since 1963.

The first publications date from the year 1947. Later his books were printed by the most famous publishers in the country: "Sowjetski pissatel", " Sovremennik ", " Vojenizdat ", "Sowjetskaya Rossia" (Moscow), "Radjanski pissmennik" (Kiev) and others . a.

Bondarenko was the author of 28 books. The writer's works have been translated into German, Hungarian and Bulgarian.

In 1991, Bondarenko founded one of Russia's first independent publishers, "Maprekon", which by 1998 had published over a million volumes of Russian and foreign classical music.

1991–1998 he published the literary information magazine "Kontur".

He died on January 30, 2014 in Taganrog at the age of 86.
