Igor Ustinov (born April 30, 1956 in London ) is a French-Swiss sculptor , biologist and singer .

Life

Igor Ustinov as a teenager with his father Peter Ustinov (1971)

Igor Ustinov is a son of Peter Ustinov and his second wife Suzanne Cloutier , a Canadian actress. The many moves due to the artistic work of his father ensured that Igor attended many different schools in different countries. He studied art at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris, completed a degree in biology in 1979 with an MP O at the University of Paris VII and studied singing at the Paris Conservatory . The main focus of his work is in the field of sculpture. He is a member of the board of trustees of the Peter Ustinov Foundation. Since the death of his father, he has been chairman of the board of trustees and, with his well-known name, has helped to maintain the donation organization.

In Russia, at that time still in the city of Leningrad , a Benoit Museum was opened in 1992 - Benoit is the family name of his grandmother, from whose family more than 40 artists, composers, architects and set designers emerged. A room for Peter Ustinov and a room for sculptures by Igor Ustinov were set up in this museum.

Igor Ustinov has been married since 1986 and has a daughter.

Artistic credo

The sculptures, made predominantly of bronze , are created under the aspect of the festival of life; they should belong to a never-ending reality. Igor Ustinov formulates his artistic goals as follows: “I want to stop time in a work of art”.

Most human figures are eight to four feet tall and weigh between 20 and 60 kilograms. He models slim and beautiful bodies that correspond to his ideal of an unshakable pride and the expression of a positive spirit.

Another project Ustinov is aiming for is action art in Paris. His idea is called The Shadow of the Eiffel Tower . This filigree shadow is to be painted on the street over the Seine bridge Pont d'Iéna to the Palais de Chaillot . It should be a walk-in work of art illuminated by spotlights. The action itself is intended as a happening: 100 happy painters dance in front of television cameras with paint pots and brushes to the work of one night.
