Ihor Stepanowytsch Nassalyk ( Ukrainian Ігор Степанович Насалик ; born November 25, 1962 in Oleksandrija , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian politician. Nassalyk was Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine from April 2016 to August 29, 2019 .

Life

Ihor Nassalyk grew up in Rohatyn and served in the Red Army between 1985 and 1987 . In 1989 he graduated from the Ivan Franko National University in Lviv as an optoelectronic engineer . From 1990 to 1992 he was the leading specialist at the Center for Microelectronics in Ulyanovsk . Between February 1992 and May 1995 he worked as an economic advisor in Lviv and Rohatyn.

Between 1998 and 2006, as a member of the Verkhovna Rada, he was Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Oil Industry and Petroleum Supply and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Fuel and Energy, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety. From April 2006 Nassalyk was mayor of the western Ukrainian city of Kalush .

After the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in October 2014, he became a member of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc again. In the local elections in autumn 2015, he ran unsuccessfully as mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk .

After a Cabinet reshuffle on 14 April 2016 Ihor Nassalyk was, in succession to Volodymyr Demtschyschyn , Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine in the Cabinet Hrojsman .

Nassalyk is married and has two sons.
