Nuovo Cimento ( Italian New test ) is a physics - magazine , which since 1897 by the Italian Physical Society ( Società Italiana di Fisica ) is issued. The magazine was founded in Pisa in 1855 by Carlo Matteucci and Raffaele Piria and continued a magazine founded by both in 1844 under the title Il Cimento .
It appeared in the following series:
- Series A ( particle physics ) since 1965; 1999 published in the European Physical Journal
- Series B ( mathematical physics , relativity , astronomy ) since 1965
- Series C ( geophysics , astrophysics , biophysics ) since 1978
- Series D ( solid state physics , atomic physics , molecular physics ) since 1982; 1998 published in the European Physical Journal
- Supplemento al Nuovo Cimento ( supplement to ... ) 1949 to 1968
- Lettere al Nuovo Cimento ( letters to ... ) since 1969; 1986 absorbed into the Europhysics Letters
- Rivista del Nuovo Cimento ( review article ) since 1969
Today appears next to the Rivista:
- Series B ( applied physics , basic research ), monthly
- Series C ( conference and workshop contributions), every two months.
