Ilan Mor
Ilan Mor (born 1955 in Israel ) is an Israeli diplomat and Israel's ambassador to Croatia since 2019.
Life
Ilan Mor's parents were from Romania and Poland and survived the Holocaust; many of her relatives died in Auschwitz . Mor lives in Tel Aviv . He is the father of two children.
Mor has served in the Israeli civil service since 1983. His diplomatic career brought him a. a. to Monrovia , Los Angeles and Beijing . From 2004 to 2009 he worked as an envoy in the Israeli embassy in Berlin , before that from 1992 to 1996 also in the Israeli embassy in the then federal capital Bonn , and was able to support the ambassadors Shimon Stein and Joram Ben-Zeev with his knowledge of German . After working for the Israeli Foreign Ministry for two years again , he was sent to Budapest in 2011 , where the largest Jewish community in Central and Eastern Europe now lives. In order to counteract the current nationalist and anti-Semitic currents in Hungary, Mor supported the Péter Pázmány Catholic University in setting up a Studium Generale subject on the Holocaust.
