biography

Carposio's studio opened in 1878 and was quickly appreciated. Ilario Carposio received seven prizes, including the first prize at the Austro-Hungarian Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition ( Trieste , 1882). Thanks to Ilario's son Renato Carposio (1886–1930) and later Renato's wife Maruzza, the studio continued to work after Ilario's death. The activity ceased only in 1947 after the Second World War and the important political changes (Fiume / Rijeka was handed over to Yugoslavia and the vast majority of the inhabitants of Italian descent fled).

Ilario Carposio had seven sons. Enrico Carposio (1887–1980) was a professor of mathematics and physics in Fiume and in Bologna after the Second World War .

In April and May 2004, two exhibitions were held in Rijeka and Zagreb, which renewed public interest in Ilario Carposio's work.
