Ildefons Maria Dietz

Ildefons Maria Dietz ( OSA ) (born February 2, 1913 in Heidingsfeld as Friedrich Dietz; † February 29, 2000 in Münnerstadt ) was a Roman Catholic religious priest and resistance member against the Nazi regime.

Life

Dietz entered the Augustinian order in 1932 and was ordained a priest on February 20, 1937. In the same year he was imprisoned by the Gestapo because of his resistance against the Nazi regime, but was released because he was seriously ill. From 1947 to 1953 he worked at the pilgrimage church in the Wies near Freising. He then worked in Würzburg as a vice postulator for the beatification processes of the German Augustinians. From 1971 he was also a pilgrimage pastor in Walldürn . After a car accident in 1989 and a subsequent stroke, Dietz lived in the hospital ward of the Augustinian monastery in Münnerstadt , where he died in 2000.
