Ildikó Barna [ ˈildikoː ˈbɒrnɒ ] (born March 7, 1961 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian handball player and current trainer.

She played for Vasas Budapest in her home country from 1974 to 1988 . There she was ten times Hungarian champion, nine times cup winner and in 1982 European cup winner. In addition, she completed 220 international matches for the Hungarian national team . At the 1982 World Cup in Budapest, she and her team took second place. The left-handed player played in the right back position .

In Germany she was under contract with Bayer Leverkusen between 1988 and 1991 , with whom she won the DHB Cup in 1991 . Between 1991 and 1993 she played for TuS Eintracht Minden and then from 1993 to 1996 for Eintracht Baunatal. She then worked as a player coach at SG Hessen Hersfeld from 1997 . Three years later, the trainer switched to the youth division of the German Handball Federation , before moving to the second division HSG Bensheim / Auerbach in 2006 .

From the 2008/09 season Barna coached the Bundesliga club DJK / MJC Trier . In January 2010 she was released from her coaching position. In December 2010 Barna took over the coaching position at the third division Germania Fritzlar. After the 2010/11 season she took over the coaching position at the second division TuS Weibern . Under her leadership, TuS Weibern rose to the Bundesliga in 2012, where the team has since competed under the name Vulkan-Ladies Koblenz / Weibern. Barna tore a cruciate ligament in October 2013 , which prevented her from leading training sessions. As a result, on December 4, 2013, Christoph Barthel took over as coach of the Vulkan-Ladies. From the 2014/15 season she coached Borussia Dortmund and led the team to promotion to the handball Bundesliga. Her contract with BVB expired in June 2018.
