Ili Kronstein

Ili Kronstein (born July 31, 1897 in Budapest , † April 22, 1948 in Zurich ) was an Austrian painter .

life and work

Ili Kronstein learned under Johannes Itten and lived in Vienna until 1938 . After the annexation of Austria and a stay of several weeks in the Gestapo prison, she fled with her two daughters to her husband in Vaduz , Liechtenstein . In 1939 she moved alone to Spartan , a small town near Nice , in order to be active again as an artist. There she began to paint abstractly with her characteristic use of colors . In 1941 she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis , from which she eventually died.
