Iliamna is a settlement on the northwest shore of Iliamna Lake in the US state of Alaska .

Originally there was an Athapaskan settlement at the confluence of the Iliamna River and Iliamna Lake. The residents left this place in 1935 and built today's settlement. Since then tourism has also developed . Fishing trips are available to Iliamna Lake and the surrounding waters, where salmon , grayling and rainbow trout are abundant.

The population consists on the one hand of permanent residents, on the other hand of seasonal workers who only live here during the summer months. Tourism is the main source of income. However, some residents also hunt and fish for self-sufficiency .

The Anglo American and Northern Dynasty mining companies are currently planning to mine gold , copper and molybdenum in the area on a large scale . This project has been heavily criticized because mine waste water could destroy the habitats of the sensitive fish species that occur here.
