The Illergau is one of the medieval districts that can often be found in historical texts .

The Illergau extends along the river Iller in south-eastern Baden-Württemberg and south-western Bavaria . The region met Alemannia (Diocese of Constance), included Kempten and places such as Heimertingen as well as Memmingen and Ottobeuren and in the north Kellmünz on the Iller . The affiliation of Mindelheim and Baisweil is unclear .

The main town of the Illergau was Kempten (Allgäu) .
