The Illustrative is an art festival . At the heart of the Illustrative is an exhibition for contemporary illustration and graphics , which shows a current exhibition of these disciplines. The exhibition is being expanded with an open competition for young talent, numerous accompanying events and several thematic sections.

The Illustrative brings together the unpublished free works of renowned graphic artists from the different areas of the applied graphic arts (such as illustration , graphic design , comics , book art , animation or game art ) and presents them to a broader public. Illustrative artists include illustrators such as Olaf Hajek, Russell Cobb, David Foldvari, Ina Keckeis, Jens Bonnke, Tanja Kling, Chriegel Farner, Lars Henkel, Roman Bittner or Tanja Kling and draftsmen such as Tim Dinter , Jens Harder , André Rösler, Jan Feindt and Frédéric Coché.

The idea for the illustrative came up in 2006 to give the younger applied graphics and illustration an international platform in the art world. It was founded on the initiative of Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss and took place in Berlin for the first time in 2006 . In 2007 there were two illustrations , one in Berlin and one in Paris . The 4th Illustrative took place in October 2008 in Zurich . In 2009 the illustrative returned to Berlin.

The Illustrative e. V. has been publishing the illustration and design magazine Objects Journal since 2008 .
