Pascal Johanssen

Pascal Johanssen (* 1973 in Berlin ) is a German gallery owner and founder of the Berlin Director's House .

Pascal Johanssen studied law and worked in innovation research in the design department at the Berlin University of the Arts . In 2005 he opened the Johanssen Gallery with a focus on graphics and illustration. In 2006, together with Katja Kleiss , he founded the Illustrative , an international biennial for contemporary illustration and graphics that took place in Berlin as well as in Zurich and Paris. In 2010 the gallery moved into the director's house in the Alte Münze in the center of Berlin, which established itself as an exhibition space for design and contemporary handicrafts. Johanssen is curator of the international exhibition tour Handmade in Germany, publisher of Objects magazine . Journal of Applied Arts and co-editor of the German Manufactory Guide.

In some projects, Pascal Johanssen deals with the relationship between material culture and digital worlds. Johanssen is the initiator of the international exhibition tour "Handmade in Germany", which presents the artisanal production of manufactories as a sustainable model of life and work. Johanssen is also the publisher of the "Objects. Journal of Applied Arts", co-editor of the German Manufactory Guide and initiator of the German Manufactory Route, a 3,000 km long holiday route that connects individual factories in the regions.
