In Siepen was a location on the brook Ossenbeck in the urban area of ​​the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal . It was located at today's streets Viehofstrasse at the corner of Am Kiesberg . The name Im Siepen no longer exists as an independent name for this location.

Location and description

The location is in the north of the Friedrichsberg residential area in the Elberfeld district at an altitude of 173  m above sea level. NHN . Today there is an industrial area on the settlement area.

Etymology and history

As Siepen is called a small, formed by a V-shaped valley stream in the region. Im Siepen indicates the location of the place in such a place, here that of Ossenbeck.

Im Siepen goes back to an early modern farm. On the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715, the Kotten is recorded as in Siep . On the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey from 1843, the location is unlabelled.

In 1815/16 the place had 21 residents. In 1832 the place belonged to the Steinbeck and Arrenberger Rotte of the rural outskirts of the parish and the city of Elberfeld. Which according to the statistics and topography of the district of Dusseldorf as Ackergut categorized place had at that time three houses and three agricultural buildings. At that time, 21 people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The area was taken over by the expanding urban Elberfelder Schlachthof am Arrenberg around 1920 and the settlement was torn down.
