The Postpanmax ships of the Imabari 8000 series were built from 2008 to 2013 by the Koyo Dockyard Company, part of the Imabari Group, in Mihara and delivered to various clients. The MOL C-Class of the Japanese shipping company Mitsui OSK Lines consisted partly of ships of the type.
The ships are set up for the transport of dangerous cargo and have a container space capacity of around 8100 TEU, depending on the construction variant. With a homogeneous load with 14-ton containers, the capacity is slightly lower. Depending on the variant, around 630 connections are available for refrigerated containers . All ships have superstructures three-quarters aft and have cargo holds equipped with cell guides, the hatches of which are closed with pontoon hatch covers.
The ship's propulsion system consists of a two-stroke Sulzer 11RTflex96C diesel engine built under license from Mitsui , which acts directly on the fixed propeller . The nominal output of 64,100 kW at the nominal speed of 97 / min enables a speed of up to 24.5 knots. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
Five diesel generators with a total output of 12,650 kW were installed. They are used to supply power to the lighting, auxiliary machinery and refrigerated containers. The auxiliary boiler for steam generation with a nominal pressure of 10 bar and a capacity of around 29 t / h is required, in addition to heating the living space and hot water supply, primarily for heating the fuel tanks, for fuel cleaning and for final fuel preheating. The fuel tanks have a total capacity of 8,530 m³ heavy fuel oil and the drinking water tanks hold around 500 m³.
