Immanuel Hoffmann
Immanuel Hoffmann (born April 16, 1710 in Tübingen ; † May 28, 1772 ibid) was a German Protestant theologian and philologist and professor at the University of Tübingen .
Life
Immanuel Hoffmann enrolled in Tübingen in 1723 and became Mag. Art. He completed a degree in theology and passed his exam in 1731. He worked as vicar for his brother Johann Gottfried Hoffmann in Stuttgart . In 1733 he became a repetitionist in Tübingen. In 1738 he became a deacon in Urach , in 1741 first second, then first deacon in Tübingen. From 1756/57 to 1772 he was Ephorus at the Tübingen monastery and full professor for the Greek language in Tübingen. In 1761/62 he was rector of the University of Tübingen.
His portrait, painted in oil in 1760, is in the Tübingen Professorengalerie .
