history
The company's roots go back to Xmedia AG , founded in 1995 by Daniel Grossen . In 1996, this resulted in AutoScout24, the Scout24 network's first online marketplace. One year later, AutoScout24's business model in the real estate sector was adopted and the ImmoScout24 online marketplace was launched.
Scout24 Schweiz AG was founded in 2000. At that time, the AutoScout24 and ImmoScout24 online marketplaces were affiliated with it. A short time later, Scout24 was expanded with the JobScout24 platform. In 2004 the stake in Scout24 held by Beisheim Holding was transferred to the Deutsche Telekom Group . In 2006 a platform for the trade in motorcycles was launched and the following year the classifieds portal Anibis , founded in Lausanne, was taken over.
Another significant shift in ownership followed in February 2007 when Xmedia was taken over by Media Swiss. With the takeover of 80 percent of the Media Swiss Group by the Ringier Group, the 49.9 percent stake in Scout24 was also transferred to the Ringier Group. At the beginning of April of the same year, Daniel Grossen gave up management and the previous commercial director, Olivier Rihs, became the new CEO. At the end of January 2012, the Media Swiss Group was restructured into a holding company and renamed Ringier Digital AG at the end of June of the same year. From then on, the Ringier Group bundled its digital activities under the umbrella of Ringier Digital.
In January 2014, Ringier Digital AG bought all remaining shares in the Swiss Scout24 companies from Scout24 Holding GmbH in Munich and was the sole shareholder of the Swiss Scout24 marketplaces for half a year. In August 2014, Ringier entered into a far-reaching partnership with KKR , a leading global investor. KKR owned 44% of the shares. At the end of September 2015, JobScout24 was integrated into JobCloud AG, which is operated jointly by Ringier and Tamedia . In spring 2016, Die Mobiliar acquired the shares from KKR and other investors and now owns 50% of the shares in Scout24 Schweiz AG. From May 2018, the Frenchman Gilles Despas, coming from eBookers and Thomas Cook , took over the management of the company as CEO.
