Immo Wymer

Immo Wymer (born January 19, 1888 in Munich ; † January 13, 1970 there ) was a German surgeon.

Life

Wymer studied medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . After serving in the First World War , he returned to the University of Munich and specialized in surgery. From 1919 to 1928 he was an assistant at the Surgical Polyclinic in Munich. In 1926 he completed his habilitation with the work An experimental study on anesthesia: At the same time a contribution to the pathological physiology of anesthesia ; in the same year he also became a member of the German Society for Surgery. In 1930 he was appointed adjunct professor. He lived in Bavariaring 17 since the 1930s. From 1928 to 1962 he headed the surgical department of the Diakonissenanstalt Munich. At the Second World War took Wymer, a member of the National Socialist Federal lecturers and since 1937 the NSDAP was as Surgeon-in part.

Wymer wrote numerous articles in the field of general and special surgery, which appeared in various journals and medical weekly papers. His main focus was vascular surgery and its history since ancient times . Among other things, he developed a procedure for correcting hallux valgus , which is known as the "Wymer operation". Since 1935 he was a member of the Geographical Society in Munich .
