Impendle is a place in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal . It is the administrative seat of the Impendle municipality in the uMgungundlovu district .

geography

In 2011 Impendle had 230 residents. 81% said isiZulu was the first language . Immediately southeast of the village is Gomane with 4627 inhabitants, which is run as its own main place .

The place is about 48 kilometers west of Pietermaritzburg .

history

The place was founded in 1894. The name comes from isiZulu and stands for "uncovered". What is meant is a hill west of the village.

Economy and Transport

Impendle is around twelve kilometers from the R617 trunk road, which connects Underberg in the southwest with Howick in the northeast.
