Royal College of Defense Studies

The Royal College of Defense Studies (RCDS) in London is a university for the basic, advanced and advanced training of the British armed forces . The RCDS is part of the Defense Academy of the United Kingdom of the United Kingdom 's Armed Forces and is currently headed by Commandant Lieutenant General (Retd) Sir David Bill.

In 1922 a cabinet commission chaired by Winston Churchill , then Secretary of State for the Colonies , recommended the creation of a college to serve the military defense of the Empire . The college was founded in 1927 as Imperial Defense College and was based at 9 Buckingham Gate in London until 1939 . After World War II, it reopened at Seaford House, Belgrave Square. In 1970 it was renamed the Royal College of Defense Studies .
