Rüdiger Lüdeking
Rüdiger Lüdeking (born February 12, 1954 ) is a German diplomat and was German ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium from 2015 to 2018 .
biography
After attending school, he joined the Bundeswehr in 1972 , where he trained as a reserve officer and was released as a lieutenant in 1974 . After completing military exercises , he was promoted to captain of the reserve in 1983 . He then studied geography , English and philosophy at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf between 1974 and 1979 . During this time, between 1977 and 1980, he also worked as a part-time teacher at the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium in Lünen and at Henkel AG & Co. KGaA in Düsseldorf .
In 1980 he entered the diplomatic service and was already a member of the FRG delegation to the 3rd UN Conference on the Law of the Sea during his preparatory service in 1981 . After completing his preparatory service, between 1982 and 1983 he worked for the Department for European Political Cooperation at the Foreign Office in Bonn and then from 1983 to 1985 First Secretary of the FRG delegation at the Vienna negotiations on troop reductions in Europe, the so-called MBFR negotiations ( Mutual and Balanced Force Reductions ). After his return he was personal assistant to the State Minister in the Foreign Office, Lutz Stavenhagen, between 1985 and 1987 .
Between 1987 and 1990 he was Deputy Head of the Delegation at the Geneva Conference on Disarmament (UNCD ) and was then Deputy Head of the Embassy in Namibia until 1992 .
He then returned to the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn, where he was Deputy Head of the Security and Arms Control Unit in Europe . In 1994 he became Deputy Head of Unit 011 (Parliament and Cabinet Unit). After completing a course at the Royal College of Defense Studies (RCDS) in London in 1996, he was Head of the Economic Department at the Embassy in the UK until 2000 .
After his return to Germany, he worked in the Foreign Office in Berlin, initially in the Conventional Arms Control Department (Department 242) and then between 2001 and 2005 as Head of the Department for Nuclear Arms Control and Non-Proliferation (Department 240). Most recently, from 2005 to 2008, he was the Federal Government's Deputy Commissioner for questions of disarmament and arms control in the Federal Foreign Office (Department 2A).
On July 29, 2008, Rüdiger Lüdeking became Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Vienna. He held this office until 2012 and was then replaced by Max Scharinger , who was previously envoy and deputy permanent representative at the permanent mission to the United Nations in Geneva . Lüdeking itself was July 13, 2012 Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the OSCE in Vienna and successor of the retirement came Heiner Horsten . In 2015 he was replaced by Eberhard Pohl . From summer 2015 to summer 2018, Rüdiger Lüdeking was the German ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium .
