Inés Puyó

Inés Puyó León (born December 9, 1906 in Santiago de Chile ; † March 21, 1996 there ) was a Chilean painter.

Puyó studied 1927-28 at the Escuela de Bella Artes with Juan Francisco González and Ricardo Richon Brunet . She traveled to Paris in 1930 on a grant from the Chilean government. There she was a student of Henry de Warroquier , Othon Friesz and André Lhote at the Académie Scandinave and was then able to exhibit at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants . In the 1930s she continued her training in New York with Amédée Ozenfant .

After returning to Chile, she joined the avant-garde Grupo Montparnasse around Camilo Mori . She participated in several exhibitions and in 1939 she won first prize in painting at the Salón Oficial de Santiago . From 1950 to 1960 she was a professor at the Instituto Chileno Italiano . Puyó's works can be found in the collections of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes , the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo of the Universidad de Chile , the Pinacoteca of the Universidad de Concepción and the Museo Minicipal de Bellas Artes of Viña del Mar.
