Inés de Castro (ethnologist)

Inés de Castro (born September 1, 1968 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentinian - German ethnologist and ancient American.

In 2001 she published her dissertation in ancient American studies at the University of Bonn under the title The history of the so-called Pacificos del Sur during the Caste War of Yucatán: 1851 - 1895. An ethnohistorical investigation .

From 2006 she was curator of the ethnological collection of the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum Hildesheim . She has been the director of the Linden Museum in Stuttgart since 2010 . Her research focuses on Mesoamerican archeology and ethnology.

During her tenure as museum director, she was responsible for several well-known exhibitions such as “World Views” (2011), “ Maori ” (2012) “Discovering Korea ! - Treasures from German Museums "(2013)," Maya Code "(2013)," Inka - Kings of the Andes "(2014)," Myanmar - The Golden Land "(2014/2015)," The World of Shadow Theater "( 2015/2016), " Hawai'i - Royal Islands in the Pacific" (2017/2018) or " Aztecs " (2019/2020).

In 2018, the provenance research expert turned down the position of head of collections at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin, which is currently being set up.
