The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Osnabrück - Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim is one of 79 chambers of industry and commerce in Germany and represents the general interests of the regional economy. The districts of Grafschaft Bentheim , Emsland (but without the city of Papenburg , which belongs to the IHK for East Friesland and Papenburg ) and Osnabrück and the city of Osnabrück belong to the IHK district . The IHK Osnabrück - Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim represents over 50,000 companies in the region. 450 entrepreneurs are involved in the elected IHK committees and 2,000 people are active as honorary auditors. The IHK Osnabrück - Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim also employs 75 people.

Self-government of the economy

As a corporation under public law, the IHK is entrusted by the state with the task of self-governing the regional economy. It is jointly represented by President Uwe Goebel, who was elected by the General Assembly on December 4, 2018 as successor to Martin Schlichter, and General Manager Marco Graf. The basis of the IHK work is the voluntary engagement of regional companies in boards and committees.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a corporation under public law and thus a sovereign. The tasks assigned according to the IHK law are based on three pillars:

  • Economic policy interests in the IHK district, in the state and in the federal government,
  • Performing the public law tasks that have been assigned to the IHKs by the state,
  • Service for the district economy.

The IHK understands and offers these tasks as a service.

Another task of the IHK is the public appointment and swearing-in of experts. In the area of ​​financial real estate valuation, however, this is now largely due to the EU personal certification standard in accordance with DIN ISO EN 17024 has been replaced.

New name since 2011

The previous IHK Osnabrück-Emsland has been called IHK-Osnabrück - Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim since 2011. With the renaming one would like to emphasize that it represents the interests of all regions within the IHK.
