The Infamous Stringdusters are an American bluegrass band from Nashville , Tennessee . The Stringdusters are considered to be one of the most innovative and successful new bluegrass bands in recent years.

history

The members of the Infamous Stringdusters already learned bluegrass in their families and gained experience in show business early on. In the years before the band was formed, everyone played with stars like Earl Scruggs , Bobby Osborne and Dolly Parton and built a reputation for themselves as talented musicians.

In 2005 the five musicians joined together to form the Infamous Stringdusters, but initially only played live performances. The audience already showed positive reactions to the style of the band; traditional bluegrass was mixed with light pop and jazz elements and the lyrics were adapted to current topics. In 2007 the group was signed to the renowned Sugar Hill Records label and in the same year their debut album Fork in the Road was released . At the World of Bluegrass trade fair in October 2007, the Stringdusters were honored with three IBMA Awards for the best album, for the best song and for the best new band.

In 2008 the second album The Infamous Stringdusters followed , which immediately reached number one on the US bluegrass charts.

Chris Eldridge was replaced by Andy Falco in the following years. In 2011 mandolinist Jesse Cobb announced his departure and Dominick Leslie came in for him.

For the album Laws of Gravity , the band was recognized at the Grammy Awards in 2018 for the best bluegrass album.
