The information center "Seenland - Water for Franconia" (also usually called the Franconian Lake District Info Center ) documents the development of the Franconian Lake District . It is located below the embankment of the Großer Brombach in the Mandlesmühle , a district of the market town of Pleinfeld in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ), which was abandoned when the lake was built , and has the postal address Mandlesmühle 1. The information center is operated by the Ansbach Water Management Office , which operates the Seemeisterstelle Brombachsee not far away . It was opened in May 2008 by the Bavarian Prime Minister Günther Beckstein and Environment Minister Otmar Bernhard .

The development of the Franconian Lake District and its water management function as a water conduit from the water-rich southern Bavaria to the rain-poor northern Bavaria is documented on two floors and a total area of around 300 square meters. Furthermore, the history of the thirteen places that had to give way to the Lakeland is dealt with. The attempt to build the Karlsgraben (Fossa Carolina) in the 8th century is also discussed .
