Ingøy ( Sami : Fávle-Ižžát ) is an island 60 kilometers west of the North Cape , in the Norwegian municipality of Måsøy in Troms og Finnmark . Ingøy has an area of 18.1 km², the highest point on the island is Mafjordfjell with 332 moh. The island has about 25 inhabitants.
Since 2000 there has been a long wave transmitter of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation ( NRK ) on the island of Ingøy . A 362 meter high, guyed steel truss mast is used as the transmitting antenna .
It is the tallest structure in Scandinavia and is fed by the guys with the radiofrequency energy to be emitted. The long wave transmitter Ingøy transmits on the frequency 153 kHz. Since there is only one transmission mast in Ingøy, broadcasting is only possible in omnidirectional mode.
The Romanian station Bod broadcasts on the same frequency, which makes it very difficult to receive the station Ingøy in Germany and in German-speaking countries. The transmission power is 100 kilowatts.
In addition to the long-wave transmission mast , Ingøy also has Fruholmen fyr , the world's northernmost operating lighthouse.
