Inga Nielsen

Inga Nielsen (born June 2, 1946 in Holbæk ; † February 10, 2008 in Gentofte near Copenhagen) was a Danish opera singer (soprano).

Life

Nielsen made her first recording at the age of nine. After studying in Vienna, Stuttgart and Budapest, she began her career in Germany and Switzerland. In 1975 she became a member of the Frankfurt Opera. M.

Since 1980 she has worked as a freelance artist and has made guest appearances at the opera houses in Milan, London, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Paris, Zurich, Barcelona, ​​New York and Buenos Aires as well as at the festivals in Salzburg, Bayreuth, Aix-en-Provence and Edinburgh and Schwetzingen.

Her repertoire included roles for coloratura soprano (e.g. Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail by Mozart) and dramatic roles (such as the title role in Salome by Richard Strauss ). Nielsen was married to the bass baritone Robert Hale until 2005 . In February 2008, at the age of 61, she died of complications from cancer.
