Inge Auerbach

Inge Auerbach (born July 16, 1941 in Leipzig ) is a German historian and archivist .

Life

After attending school in Leipzig, Kassel and Marburg an der Lahn , Auerbach studied Slavic Studies, History and Political Science at the Universities of Marburg and Kiel . In 1968 she passed her state examination in Kiel and received her doctorate there in 1970. In 1980 he completed his habilitation in Eastern European History at the University of Marburg. Most recently, she worked there from 1989 as an adjunct professor. By profession she was an archivist at the Hessian State Archives in Marburg .

Auerbach presented publications on the Russian language and history of the 16th century, on the comparative class history of East Central Europe at the beginning of the 17th century and on Hessian history, in particular she did research on the Hessians in the American War of Independence, on emigration from Hesse-Kassel, on Hessian-Russian relations , on the history of the University of Marburg and on Philip the Magnanimous and Eastern Europe.

Auerbach was a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse . In 1996 she became a full member of the Johann Gottfried Herder Research Council .
