Ingeborg Wilfert , née Kunert (born March 1, 1939 in Dresden ) is a German cartographer .

Life

After graduating from high school in Dresden, Ingeborg Wilfert studied cartography from 1958 to 1963 at the Technical University or Technical University of Dresden . From 1964 she held various positions at the Dresden Topographical Service (today the State Enterprise Geobasis Information and Surveying Saxony) before returning to the Technical University of Dresden in 1970 as an aspirant in the Geodesy and Cartography section. Here she became an assistant in 1975 and later senior assistant at the Institute for Cartography and received her doctorate in 1976 in cartography.

Her scientific work focuses on reproduction and printing technology as well as card production technology . In the 1990s, database systems , digital cartography and programming were added as other important fields of activity. From 1992 to 2004 she was professor for map technology at the Institute for Cartography of the Faculty of Forest, Geo and Hydro Sciences at the Technical University of Dresden, of which she was director from 1994 to 1997. She is still working at the Institute for Cartography today.

Ingeborg Wilfert is married and has a daughter and a son.
