Inger Louise Valle

Inger Louise Valle (birth name: Inger Louise Andvig ; born November 28, 1921 in Oslo ; † May 21, 2006 ) was a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet , who was a member of the Storting for four years and Minister for Family and Consumer Affairs from 1971 to 1972, 1972 Minister for Consumers and Administration, between 1973 and 1979 Minister for Justice and Police, and most recently from 1979 to 1980 Minister for Local Affairs and Labor.

Life

Studies, professional career and local politician

Inger Louise Valle, daughter of the shipping company owner Jens Andvig and his wife Nora Louise Berg, began training at the commercial high school after attending school in 1940, which she completed in 1941. She then worked as a trade teacher at the Norwegian Correspondents School between 1941 and 1947 and, from 1942, as a secretary in the State Price Office (Statens prisdirektorat) . In addition, she later completed a law degree , which she graduated in 1951 as candidata juris (cand. Jur.). She then became an advisor to the State Office for Prices in 1951 and worked there until 1958. Then Inger Louise Valle first became a consultant in 1958 and then between 1966 and 1973 head of department at the consumer council (Forbrukerrådet) .

In addition to her professional activity, she began her political career in local politics in the mid-1960s and was for the first time a member of the local council of Bærum for the Ap between 1967 and 1971 . In addition, she acted between 1970 and 1971 as the chair of the Nordic Council for Consumer Affairs (Nordisk komite for konsumentspørsmål) , of which she had previously been a member since 1964.

Minister and Storting Member

On March 17, 1971, she was appointed by Prime Minister Trygve Bratteli as Minister for Family and Consumer Affairs (Minister for Familie- og Forbrukersaker) in his first government . As part of a redesign of ministerial responsibilities, she became Minister for Consumers and Administration (Forbruker- og Administrasjonsminister) in the Bratteli cabinet on May 8, 1972 , to which she was a member until the end of Bratteli's term of office on October 18, 1972.

In the second government of Prime Minister Bratteli on October 16, 1973, she took over the post of Minister for Justice and Police ( Justice and Political Ministers ) . In addition, she acted as the first ombudswoman for consumer affairs (Forbrukerombudet) between 1973 and 1981 , this function being held on a temporary basis by Charles Philipson between 1974 and 1975 and by Hans Petter Lundgaard between 1976 and 1981 due to her ministerial position .

She also took over this office of Minister for Justice and Police in the government of Prime Minister Odvar Nordli , who became Bratteli's successor on January 15, 1976. In the election of September 12, 1977 , she was elected as a candidate of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap) for a member of the Storting and represented the interests of Fylke Akershus in this until the 1981 election .

As part of a government reshuffle , on October 8, 1979, she succeeded Arne Nilsen as Minister for Local Affairs and Labor (Kommunal- og Arbeidsminister) , while Andreas Zeier Cappelen became her own successor as Minister of Justice and Police. She held the ministerial office for local affairs and labor until the Nordli government was reorganized on October 3, 1980 and was then replaced by Harriet Andreassen .

After leaving the government and Storting, she became the director of the State Office for Rationalization (Rasjonaliseringsdirektør) in 1981 and held this position until she retired in 1986. At the same time she was President of the Norwegian Society for the United Nations (FN-sambandet) between 1983 and 1989 .

Inger Louise Valle then got involved again in local politics and was again a member of Bærum's municipal council between 1987 and 1995.
