Ingrid Artus

Ingrid Artus (* 1967 in Erlangen ) is a German sociologist and professor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg .

Life and academic background

Ingrid Artus first attended the Wilhelm Löhe School and then the Melanchthon Gymnasium in Nuremberg , where she graduated from high school in 1986. After graduating in 1993 as a Magistra artium (MA) at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (subjects: Sociology; Modern Literature; Modern History), she worked as a research project collaborator from 1993 to 1995 at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg and from 1995 to 1997 worked at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Jena . With the support of a doctoral scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation (1998–2000) she wrote the dissertation “The German tariff system in crisis”, with which she received her doctorate in 2001 in Jena in sociology with “summa cum laude”. She then worked from 2001 to 2009 as a research assistant and academic adviser  at the Chair of Sociology at the Technical University of Munich . In 2008 she completed her habilitation with the thesis “Peripheral and precarious representation of interests: A German-French comparison of employee representation beyond the institutional norm” at the Technical University of Munich. From 2009 she was initially a teaching professor, since 2010 she has been working as a university professor for "Comparative Social Research" at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Artus was co-editor of the journal Industrial Relations from 2010 to 2017 , in which, among other things, she was responsible for several special issues.

Research stays abroad

With a grant from the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme , she conducted research from October 2005 to May 2006 at the Institut de Recherches Economiques et Sociales (IRES) in Noisy-le-Grand , and with a Research Fellowship from June / July 2012 in Department of Industrial Relations at the University of Warwick, England .

Award

In November 2016, she was awarded the Renate Wittern Sterzel Equal Opportunities Prize from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (together with Judith Holland and Stefan Kerber-Clasen).
