Ingrid superstar

Ingrid Superstar (* around 1944 , † after December 1, 1986) is or was an American actress and an Andy Warhol - "Superstar".

Life

The actress is one of the most enigmatic figures around Andy Warhol and his Factory . Even the Warhol biographers Victor Bockris , David Bourdon , Ultra Violet and Steven Watson disagree about their real names and their exact life dates.

Bockris used the surname "Ingrid von Scheflin" in his books, Bourdon called her "Ingrid von Scheven", Ultra Violet "Ingrid von Scherven" and Steven Watson finally "Ingrid von Schefflen".

It can be said with some certainty that the former office worker came from New Jersey . The tall woman shaped numerous Warhol productions with her distinctive face (including The Chelsea Girls , Bike Boy and others). Warhol chose the working-class actress as a counterpart to his high society actress Edie Sedgwick . With her natural talent for acting spontaneously, Ingrid brought humor to Warhol films, but mostly only appeared in supporting roles, often falling victim to Warhol's “dramaturgy”. Finally, Ingrid Superstar completely replaced Sedgwick, who was increasingly addicted to drugs. But like many other Warhol “superstars”, Ingrid soon burned up into a shooting star. In the mid-1980s, she was charged with prostitution and drug trafficking . She disappeared without a trace from her apartment in Kingston, New York City , in December 1986 . She was 42 years old at the time of her disappearance. For years, her mother searched for the missing person through newspaper advertisements . Ingrid was later pronounced dead, but her body was never found.

Gerard Malanga , Warhol's colleague and later biographer, once said: "Ingrid was a sweetheart, but she lacked class."
