Inside Fighting China , French title La Chine sous les armes , is a 1942 Canadian short documentary film directed by Stuart Legg .

action

While London was preoccupied with the Depression in the early autumn of 1931 and the US was tackling the problem of unemployment, the world powers overlooked the fact that a new great power was forming in Japan. As a result of the Mukden incident , the Manchurian Crisis occurred in which Japan occupied Manchuria. Now the state had access to all raw materials that are needed for warfare. On the one hand, the film draws scenarios that go as far as a war with biological weapons , on the other hand, it shows the great power fantasies of Japan that go as far as the annexation of Europe.

After the Japanese attack on China and the Nanking massacre , people fled westward and resistance began. China transformed into a democracy that relies on a struggling population. The construction of secret factories for the supply of weapons, the training of women to become soldiers and the supply of children are shown. With the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the West also began to take an interest in fighting China. Combat tactics are shown, including the use of space and the element of surprise when attacking from an ambush. The film ends with the words that China is not building on peace for its inhabitants, but is hoping for the privilege of fighting to lead its people into the future, which is opening up despite the difficult current situation.
